My Name is Austin Smeenk. I was born with hereditary spastic paraplegia which affects the way I walk. Physical limitations can impact how I get somethings done, but have never stopped me from doing the things I love. I learned to climb trees, ride a bicycle, and most importantly to never give up on something you want. This attitude has translated into my every day life and I am now a two time World Championship competitor in the sport of Para Athletics, as well as a Paralympic hopeful for the 2016 Games in Rio. My experience at Fanshawe has been outstanding and the staff have catered to my needs as a frequently traveling athlete who is keen on learning. My success would not be possible without them. Go Falcons!
