Brandy: A story of creativity
Growing up if I had crayons and paper I could be entertained for hours. I loved any chance I could get to be creative. When we needed title pages in elementary school, I would spend hours perfecting them. I was one of the lucky few who always knew what I wanted to do. I knew that I was going to spend my life designing.
At 17, I came to Fanshawe for the graphic design program. It was a whirlwind experience of figuring out college while learning how to grow up. Once the time came for graduation, I decided to return to Fanshawe for another year to take the Multimedia Design & Production program.
During the summer in between my programs, I started looking for opportunities to use my skills and I discovered the College employs students. I was fortunate enough to be hired as a student designer for the College that summer and from there, I received an offer of part-time work. That fall, I continued my role at the College while attending classes full-time. In just a short time, I had 2 diplomas and a part time job at the college. Seven years later, I am lucky to work for Fanshawe full-time using the skills I acquired through school to design marketing materials, motion graphics and campaigns just like this one.
Through Fanshawe I have made friendships that will last a lifetime, learned skills that moved my career forward, and continue to open doors that will foster and grow my love of design.
