Caitlin: A story of power
Being told you'll go no where in life by your grade 4 teacher kinda sticks in your head all throughout the rest of your life. As crazy as it sounds, I believed him. I had a difficult time in school and him telling me that kinda put the cherry on top of the cake.
Fast forward almost 10 years later and I am going to be a Fanshawe graduate in about 2 months. It wasn't easy getting to where I am and I'll be honest, I did give up once or twice changing paths and taking breaks but having teachers, family and support that believed in me was the best thing I could have asked for.
I have the power to succeed and I am so glad that teacher told me what he did because if he hadn't, I don't believe I would have pushed myself as hard as I did and who knows where I would be today. We all have the power to be someone unique. Now as a future support worker, it is my turn to support others, encourage and give them power.
