Caroline: A story of belief

I can't believe it.

Those were the words that I uttered the very first day I started at Fanshawe College. A bright eyed, anxious 19-year-old, with dreams that were just that: dreams. As I sat in classroom on the second floor of the 'M' building, the instructor described the possibilities that came from this Broadcast Journalism program if we were willing to work at it and trust the system. If we did, our dreams could become a reality.

From that day forward, three years, between Fanshawe and Western, I learned, I worked hard, and I took every opportunity that came my way.

Speakers would come in, sharing their stories of success; "I sat right where you all were, I was in your spot," they'd tell us, reassuring us that our time would come. And they were right.

I can't believe it.

That's how I still feel, two and a half years removed from graduation, living across the country co-hosting the national morning edition of Sportsnet Central. I can't quite believe that I get to do what I love.

I know it's cliché, but it's the truth, and I have Fanshawe to thank.
