Crystal: A story of determination
In May of 2012, I was called in to see my doctor for MRI results. She informed me that I have several brain aneurysms which may or may not be the cause of my two decades of migraines. At first I thought that my life was over, as the neurosurgeon decided not to operate. I had always wanted to return to college (Niagara Police /Law 1995) but never had the time, money or the good health to do so. A Fanshawe brochure came to my house in 2014 and as I read through I noticed that many courses can be completed online and part time. I enrolled in one class of the Healthcare Office Assistant program. My instructor was fabulous, although the rest of the class was finishing up their education, I was made to feel welcome and it was a success. I intend on completing all courses in the program by the end of summer 2015. My dream is to be a nurse, but with my health problems it is not the best choice of careers for me, so the HOA program provides me with the opportunity to obtain a career in the medical field and bring compassion and understanding to my future workplace. It doesn't matter how long it takes to finish your program, just keep going and look forward to your new career.
