Dalton: A story of triumph
What brought you to Fanshawe?
I left university after trying an engineering program at Carleton University and was working part-time, determined to figure out what I wanted to do in life; this wasn't it. Trial-and-error seemed like the best tactic in figuring out where I belong. Taking a shot in the dark with the Business program, of which I had only heard good things, I found that I excelled in it and enjoyed the success-driven atmosphere of Fanshawe College.
Tell us about your favourite Fanshawe experience.
It isn't easy for most people to decide where they're going to invest this significant portion of their life. Being someone who had never taken a business course in their life, I thought this would be an interesting learning experience at the least. I found out that there are great personalities and the some of the best professors at Fanshawe. One of the best feelings is finding where you belong, and for me, it's at Fanshawe.
What impact has Fanshawe had on your life?
Throughout a large part of my life I was very reserved and shy; unwilling to contribute my ideas and thoughts to groups or other people. I joined the Rotaract Club at Fanshawe and have been pushing myself to meet new people, become more sociable, and develop my interpersonal skills. I think that coming out of this shell is one of my greatest achievements and am becoming a better person each day at Fanshawe College.
