Jessica: A story of change
What brought you to Fanshawe?
In all honesty, friends brought me to Fanshawe; I didn't want to be alone and I was terrified. I wanted to drop out before giving myself a chance. I never give myself a chance with anything. I have a habit of just telling myself that I can't do it and then quitting. I have a fear of letting those around me down. This time, I didn't let my fear stop me.
Tell us about your favourite Fanshawe experience.
Living in residence has been my favourite Fanshawe experience, which is a big deal for me since I didn’t want to leave home. I spent a lot of my time with my roommates, who at first, I had no idea would become my best friends and be the reason I didn't let myself quit again. We were all scared and helped each other get through one of the scariest times of our lives.
What impact has Fanshawe had on your life?
Overall, Fanshawe allowed me to see my full potential. I always thought you were either smart or you weren't and that was all there was to it. You either can or you can't. It's crazy to think that the girl who was hardly passing geography in high school is now in college taking Tourism and Travel with a 4.0 GPA. I’ve learned that if you try hard enough, you can achieve anything you want.
