Kelly: A story of never give up
My whole life I have struggled with school. It seemed like teachers just didn’t want to take the time to sit down one-on-one with me and teach me at my pace. It was very stressful but with the help of my family, boyfriend and friends it made it a whole lot easier.
I was told in public school that I wouldn’t be “successful” in high school; my Mom fought for me and told the teachers “she can do anything she sets her mind to!” I went to the high school in my hometown (Medway), and I graduated in 4 years. From high school I went into Pre-Health Sciences, then changed to Early Childhood Educator.
My first year of college was stressful like anyone’s would be; I gained “friends”, and then noticed those so called “friends” aren’t really your friends. During second semester I decided I would keep to myself and set a goal for myself, which I have never, done before “have a 4.0 GPA.”
I am now in 3rd semester going into 4th and I reached my goal, I walked out with a 4.0 GPA. I am currently working as an infant teacher and my goal is to be in a FDK classroom with TVDSB.
Always remind yourself you can do anything you set your mind to.
