Lucy: A story of healing
My name is Lucy. In 1994 I was in a head on collision. I was pronounced dead three times, yet lived. I was left in a coma, with head injuries, and many broken bones. I awoke from the coma, and remained in the hospital for several more months. I was told I would never walk again, and never return to school or work. My memory, eyesight, and hearing were also compromised. My husband Steve was (and is) my rock. Two years later I was again able to hold memories, though I was still extremely forgetful, couldn't count, and my common sense and logic were weak. I worked hard to recover. Seven years later, I was walking, albeit with a very serious limp, using a cane :-) After years of therapy, my progress had plateaued. I was as good as I was going to get. While investigating my options, I met a medicine man Oscar de Los Santos who taught me new ways to heal myself. Now, I see perfectly, my brain is normal, and I'm running!!! I went back to work, and after 22 years, at 43, I'm currently succeeding in the FANSHAWE Pre-Health Science program. The staff have been Stellar in assisting me. In September I will begin the Practical Nursing Program. A way for me to give back to the world that helped me.
