Mauricio: A story of support

Since my late teens I have struggled with depression and anxiety but it wasn't until my early thirties that I decided to reach out for help.

It has been a roller coaster of emotions, struggles, joy and sadness. I work with my doctors, and therapist to keep carrying on. It's a work in progress as I try to balance medicine, therapy and activity to help me day in and out.

I've been surrounded with amazing people at the College that are part of my story. My workmates, team leader and friends have been great support. I'm fortunate to count on them for laughs and support when needed.

Today I know that my mental illness won't go away. I'm learning to embrace it as it is part of who I am, and learning about it has helped me to be where I am today.

My story is my team's story. I look forward to coming to work, I love what I do, and love that through my work, I can help others grow and learn about themselves.

Fanshawe has been instrumental in my well being and personal growth. At Fanshawe I am not alone.
