Olufemi James: A story of balance
What brought you to Fanshawe?
I came to Fanshawe as an international student to study and experience life in Canada.
Tell us about your favourite Fanshawe experience.
I guess it has to be my volunteering activities. I'm practically everywhere around college either as a peer to peer mentor, FOL Ambassador, International office volunteer, FSU promotions team member or promoting the co-curricular record program. I must admit to the high standards at Fanshawe, the opportunity to learn, grow and achieve. The resources here are simply amazing… oh! I forgot to mention that I like the sight of snow but not the cold.
What impact has Fanshawe had on your life?
Going through the Practical Nursing Program provided lots of opportunities to learn and build lifesaving skills in response to the changing health challenges. Due to the skills I have gained through clinical placements, the lab and other areas of the program, I feel fulfilled, well prepared, and certain that I have the skills and knowledge required to be successful as a Registered Practical Nurse. Life is best enjoyed when kept in equilibrium, I maintain the balance through community involvement, academics and volunteering.
