What brought you to Fanshawe?

For 20 years, I worked in construction, slugging away in God-awful heat and cold conditions just to make a buck to support my family. At 31 years old, after a heated argument with a fellow employee, I decided to change my life. I went home that night and applied for the GIS and Urban Design program at Fanshawe College. This was the best decision I have ever made.

Tell us about your favourite Fanshawe experience.

My favourite experience was being viewed by my peers as a leader in the classroom. Someone who has been in the real world and they could lean on for advice, guidance and a push occasionally to keep on the right the track. Most importantly, my peers looked at me as someone who wanted more in life then a steady paycheck and I was willing to do what was necessary to achieve my dream career.

What impact has Fanshawe had on your life?

Since graduation, I am now working for one of the largest engineering and planning corporations in the world as a GIS and Planning Technician. I am less than 6 months away from my professional designation and after 18 months, I still love what I do and I enjoy going into work everyday as I work with some of the world's brightest and most talented professionals. I have never been happier.
