What brought you to Fanshawe?

Being a single mom is a lot of pressure and responsibility. My daughter was about to start Kindergarten when I had to make the difficult decision between a minimum wage job that my heart was not into or go back to school. I honestly did not think I could do it until I saw the ad in the local newspaper for the Adventure Expeditions and Interpretive Leadership diploma. This course resonated with me and I knew it was for me.

Tell us about your favourite Fanshawe experience.

This program lent itself to many lifelong memorable experiences. The hands on learning experience during the three very different yet unique expeditions during this course were immeasurable. I have knowledge and confidence from these experiences that I could not have received anywhere else. The bonds that were created with my fellow classmates really stands out to me. We all pushed our limits and with that lifelong friendships were made.

What impact has Fanshawe had on your life?

My lifelong dream of being an Outdoor Environmental Educator is a direct consequence of being a student of The Adventure Expeditions and Interpretive Leadership diploma program. It has given me not only the knowledge but also the confidence to move forward in my life to pursue a career I could only dream about before Fanshawe.
