Trudy: A story of reaching goals

After coming to Fanshawe as a mature student and obtaining my diploma in Office Administration, Executive in 1995 I found immediate employment in my field! I worked at various positions (all in office administration) for the next 14 years and in 2009 suddenly found myself restructured and unemployed. I wasn't worried, I had a lot of experience and I had never been unemployed for more than 2 weeks in my adult life.

Fast forward almost a year and I still hadn't been able to find full time employment (which has never happened to me before). I decided to take the opportunity to go back to school and obtain my payroll certification. My goal was to get hired in a post-secondary institution or one of our major health care facilities. Shortly after I completed my certification, I was hired part time in the School of Human Services as a Customer Service Representative and was brought on full time just over a year later.

I've been here almost 5 years and wouldn't trade it for anything. Fanshawe is my second home and I’m very proud to say I'm a Fanshawe alumni, full time staff member and part time student. I’m currently working on my Project Management certificate (2 classes left to go!) and working in the School of Human Services – come and see me anytime. :o)
